Thoughts on Twilight

So I finally read this book, and I hope I don't earn any enemies by saying this, but I just thought it was OK. To be fair, it was good enough for me to read the whole thing in about 3 days, but not good enough that I am going to bother reading the series. It's a good story, but for me, it really dragged out. I finally got really into it during the baseball game fallout and on through the end of the book. I think, more than anything, I got really tired of reading the same thing over and over again. Things like how cold, icy, or cool Edwards hands, lips, face were. Things like how clumsy Bella was. Things like how beautiful Edward was and how Bella's heart would skip a beat when she saw or touched him. I think the author reminded us of that at every single glance, interchange, and conversation between or about the two. And how could I forget how many times it was explained how safe Bella was with Edward and how he would never hurt her, but then again in that same breath, he would warn her how bad he was for her health, what a danger he was to her. Make up your mind already!

And even as I read a glimpse into the next book, New Moon, it continued on to that effect. I just don't think I can put myself through the repetition again.

But I will still see the movies, for sure. In fact, I can't wait to watch Twilight On Demand tonight! So I guess, overall, I give the story a C+, ok, B-. Definately, good enough to finish (and rather quickly at that), but not so great I would rave about it.
