Calculated Risk

My sister, Emily, got here with her girls, Brooklyn and Natalie, last Sunday afternoon for a much anticipated Spring Break visit. Nevermind that Noah had been sick the night before. He was feeling better by morning, hadn't gotten sick again, and I had Cloroxed everything within reach. My father called it "a calculated risk" for Emily to still come, and risk it we did. Nevermind that the plan bit us in the butt and Brooklyn was throwing up by Tuesday morning. Nevermind that Natalie yakked a little, too, by that night. That's another fairly predictable story, so I won't go into those details. All I can say about our calculated risk is that we probably won't do that again. Lesson learned. Those germ bugs are smarter than we are.

On a good note, there was lots of busy activity before and after the passing of germs. Emily, Brooklyn, Noah and I hit Monkey Joe's again and had a blast! Josh kept Anna and Natalie at home and did not have blast, but we sure appreciated that time away from the babies. There was a good bit of preschool picking at each other which added a certain level of frustration to our rainy Monday. Those kids sure needed time outside. But we made good on a sunny day at Mimmie and Papa's in Alabama with a backyard Easter Egg hunt on Wednesday.

Anna met with her first Daddy backpack ride and was on a pleasant cruise control mood for the entire ride. Josh calls that device our new best friend. :)

Brooklyn and Noah riding Mimmie and Papa's new toy and Noah's "big car".

Anna soaking up all the attention.

And a little irony to wrap up the visit...Noah caught Natalie's nasty cold and has been hacking and pitiful on the couch ever since. :(

Those stinkin' smart germs! Glad you found a little fun in the mist of the sickness. Also glad you were able to spend some time with your parents. Amazing, they still look the same the did 10 years ago!

By those pics I'd never know you all were fighting yucky germs. I'm glad you all had a good time despite the sickies. Heather is right! Your parents haven't changed a bit!

Alison: I know, I know! Guilty...but to be fair - we only drove down in the morning and drove home that night. The entire 8 hours we were there were b/c Emily was in town. I am soooo ready to meet up for a lunch or playdate of some sort the next time we come to town.
