Last Weekend Stuffs

Adoption and Foster MNO at Chef's Market with a handful of friends from church.

Josh took the girls to see Frozen 2.  While there, they met up with Lasa's buddy, Amelia, who came home with us for the day while her family busied themselves with moving.

 

 

They played the best they ever have on a playdate ... I think because it was just the two of them this time.  Watercolor and dress up and bunnies and dollhouses and babies and candy canes.  Sugar and spice. 

 

 

Noah happened to have his bud, Everett, over for the afternoon as well.  So some boys vs. girls Nerf wars ensued at times.  So. Much. Squealing. and Slamming Doors upstairs.  Ha!

Anna finally got her pottery back from being fired at Brushfire a month ago, that birthday gift from Addie.  It turned out so beautiful!

 

Just a sweet view I find on any given night.  Josh has also taken to plucking on his guitar a little, too.

PreK Turkey Stuffs

As the big kids and I muddle through golden ratios in math and adverbial clauses in language and Saturn's composition, literature and vocabulary, and Hebrew transliterations ... pass me all the precious Pre-K turkey crafts for sweet relief.  For some reason they are way cuter to me than they were when Noah and Anna were little.  Ha!  Perks of being the baby, I guess.

 

Concerning West Virginia

Anna was assigned the state of West Virginia to do a report on for her US Geography class at CHET.  And she did.  And then she was required to participate in a Geography Fair shortly after as well, so she figured she might as well do that on WV, too, since the report got her half the info she'd need anyway.  Neither she nor I cared much about this project.  She did the entire thing her self, knowing she was just doing enough to get it done.  She had to present it briefly to judges during the fair and she had a picture book (M is for Mountain: A West Virginia Alphabet), her report, and a coal miner's hat (a fireman hat from the dress up box that she sharpied black and taped a light to the front of) positioned in front of her display as well.  And wouldn't you know ... the child took home First Place this week?!?!  We could NOT stop chuckling at that outcome.  That Anna girl is something, even when she's not even trying. 

 

Now we sort of have a hankering to try some WV mountain destination some time.  Ha!

Other birthday party for Noah's friend, Cole.  Celebrated with a photo scavenger hunt on the square in Gallatin.  Such a cool idea! 

Taco bar and Round Robin ping pong with Anna's buds and their families Sunday night.  What a hoot!

 

 

 

I also got to have a breakfast out with Cindy, Amanda and Kristin before swinging by Holiday on the Hill for my first Christmas shopping Saturday morning. And today I left the kids at home with some schoolwork while I took in a Monday lunch with Nena and Rachel.  Of course I didn't even think to take pics of MY buds.  Sheesh!

Bummer stage fright for my poor Lasa at church on Sunday when the PreK Sunday School class sang Psalm 100 for both services.  Lasa was overcome with anxiety about being in the spotlight and it was all she could do to stand there and not cry.  Her poor little downturned mouth.  Her pitiful slumped shoulders.  Broke my heart. But proud of her for getting up there at all.  That was hard for her.  It blows our minds because she is a fireball at home and among friends!  Turns more bashful at school apparently, too, we are told.

The more I look at this picture, the more bothered I am.  I wish I had given the ok for her to sit it out instead like her teachers were gonna do. Boo for stupid parenting decisions.

Redeemer Thanksgiving 2019

Redeemer has grown so much that we couldn't house this annual tradition at the church this year and the event almost got nixed as a result.  Sad!  Thankful for a certain someone in my Dgroup who pushed to keep it and got us booked to gather at Bagsby Ranch to keep the tradition alive.  The space was so lovely and roomy and cozy and warm. It did our hearts so much good to be gathered under one roof at the same time again.  We haven't done that in over a year since having to move to two services.  Thankful for this sweet evening of Redeemer Thanksgiving!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

11-12 Things

I am still in love with this Kroger pumpkin I picked up last month.

The deed is done!  Luke went under the knife for his neutering yesterday.  He is still recovering and will be inside with us for a week at least, methinks, because it's just so dang cold outside and we want full healing for him.  Not half-time healing because his body is using half its energy to keep warm.  Anyone up for February weather in November? The high today is 32 degrees!  Low of 15. Yowzers!

Josh has gotten antsy inside with the time change again and how early it gets dark.  Hence, that sewing project already mentioned above.  And this piano coming back in the house.  And the family yoga from one of Lasa's fave books he is getting us all doing, too.  So funny! 

 

We got our first snow today!  Not a ton, but enough to change everyone's routines.

I completed a 2019 checklist item I committed to back in January - trying brussels sprouts.  They were delicious!! Excited about a new healthy food to add to our regular rotation now.   Gold star for Anna who loved them with me.  Noah might have too if he had been home.
