Raising the Bar

GREAT parenting quote I read recently:

"I am not raising children.  I am raising adults."

Reeeeeeeally makes me want to get it right with my kids every time.  Gotta stop being lazy in terms of discipline and consistency with Noah and Anna.  Summer has taken a toll on me (and in turn, them) and enough is enough.

I don't remember questioning myself so much. I wish I had been wiser, looking back. I wonder if I scarred them in some way and they are too nice to tell me. But I certainly loved them and enjoyed my little boys.

Does it come off like I am questioning myself? I don't feel like I am - maybe it's just a hazard of reading a lot...my brain never turns off. :O It's true, though, i am always seeking wise council, good advice, smart tips for improving how things are done ... parenting included. :)

Great quote. Reminds me of the one I love: "Better to build boys than mend men" by Truett Cathy - founder of Chick-Fil-A.

Read this a couple of days ago on my phone... we were at camp and didn't have a lot of internet time, but it made me smile to see it on here because I knew just where it had come from. And I agree with you... it's a great quote.

While I agree that you are raising adults, I'm also confident that God's grace is more than sufficient in their lives and yours. On the other hand, it doesn't come across to me that you question yourself too much. :)
