The husband feels like, after the counsel of an agency and some attorneys, we should be as prepared as we can be for court next month. That means, we should have a completed adoption homestudy in the unexpected (but hopeful) event that the judge is even gonna consider granting TPR. She will not likely do it unless we stand poised and ready to offer direct permanency competency. And in the great state of TN, you must have an adoption homestudy to do so. Even if you are already approved and cleared for custody for the next 18 years. It is annoying... and expensive... and repetitive to have to jump through all these hoops again, but it is what it is. I am thankful for Josh's leading in getting this accomplished, so I am in full on checklist mode this week/month.
For anyone who's counting, this will be our fourth homestudy since 2005, sixth if you count the homestudy updates we have also had done. We are moving through this one faster than all the ones before! We are machines by now.

So good. I thought we wouldn't even get it down by court... but now I know we will be done with ease...
Oh, sweet government.
These policies and procedures are why so many children aren't being adopted and aren't even being placed in foster care. I get it. Checks and balances for protection. But, when you have a family that's already adopted, already been approved to foster, already granted custody, this is just a little excessive.
But, hey, you're a list kind of girl. Get to checking them off!
