Ready, Set, Go!

We have been READY for a few weeks; we have the training certificate and completed checklist of paperwork to prove it.

All we had left to do was our homestudy ... which we just did today.  As in, Lakeisha, the home study case worker,  just left a few minutes ago. So now we are ready and SET.

And we even have our orders for the GO already in place.  This week, we were assigned a 5 day respite care placement in just a few weeks for two little girls, ages 3 and 4, while their Jonah's Journey family makes a trip to NC to house hunt apparently.  And after that (if not before, who knows?), we will just be waiting for the call for our first official caregiver placement of our own.  We have been told more than once that it will come quickly.

And then the flurry of activity that will follow ... buy a crib? toddler bed?  relocate the classroom to the playroom?  share bedrooms? Time will tell.  And personality.  And ages.  And time frames.  And...

Sitting tight til then and leaning heavily into the assurance that the Lord will provide for all we need to provide for the next little life that will be joining us in ours.  Leaning heavily and peacefully into trusting God's timing and design.

Excited!

Oh my goodness... reading this makes me so, so, SO happy and excited for you. Hooray! I can't wait to see what God has in store for your family.

And just because I'm unfamiliar with Jonah's Journey... is this only like foster care or is there the option to potentially adopt?

Thanks for grinning big with us, friend! As for JJ, The goal is to get the children back with their mother after she completes her sentences and has met some requirements set forth by Jonah's Journey, but to answer your question - yes, about half the placements end up in adoption. Often when the moms return to prison, or their sentences will be too long, or whatever. And even all those are voluntary moves by the birthfamily to transition to adoption for the children. There are also community families where families are in need for the kids or are homeless...

Eeek! Can NOT WAIT too hear all about your journey :) I know you are so excited...and all the fun in moving rooms, planning, and preparing. What a huge deal this is. I wonder if the 3 and 4 year will actually leave the state with their foster parents leave or if they will be back in the system...Think this is also a potential for you to KEEP the girls when the other parents move?????

Thanks!!! :D :D We bought an extra mattress today for Anna's trundle. One small reasonable thing we could do.

I expect to talk to the girls' caregiver family anytime in the next couple weeks so I will know more about that situation then, but I had the same question. I can't imagine they would move out of state with JJ kiddos, but it's possible they are already adopted? Allyson (the girl whom EVERYTHING goes through with JJ) said this family has no family in the area and were in a pinch, so it's possibly they are helping them out with respite care even after the adoption? Don't know yet...

Oh friend, my heart rejoices with you! I'm so, so excited to see how the Lord will stretch your faith, hearts, and home (literally!) as you pour love into these precious children. Supporting you in prayer while already knowing how faithful HE will be! Love you!
