Highlights of Josh's 36th

Josh 36th birthday this weekend was commemorated in some unique ways.  Firstly, we didn't buy him any presents because there was one main thing he's wanted for awhile, kinda needed anyway, and would cost a pretty penny by itself - a kayak.  He finally pressed Purchase last night on the one he's been eyeing/researching and we look forward to it showing up at our doorstep very soon.  In the meantime, Josh was loaned a kayak from our good friend, James, so we took it out for a spin the day of his birthday in lieu of his not quite having his own just yet.

The kayak Josh picked is an inflatable one.  And it's a good thing because James' hardshell counterpart completely FILLED the Acadia.  It was pretty comical!

Josh launched from the shore in no time.

One happy birthday boy...

Noah floated his Lego boat while he waited for a turn.

Anna caught minnows in her play kitchen coffeepot.

Anna climbed aboard for the first ride since she was a lighter and smaller passenger test run.

Showing Anna how to maneuver.

 Pretty paddler!

Noah's turn!

Noah picked up quickly.

Best shot!

Back at home, Josh put together a new Lego set with Anna.  (Poor Noah was grounded from this one after a particularly trouble-making week with his sister.)

In other birthday news, Noah whistled Josh's favorite song - How Deep the Father's Love for Us.  It was so precious to us.  Will have to video that soon!

And Anna gave him a picture she has been working on for awhile. I love the people she draws!

Josh also hung his new wind chimes.

And we had chocolate cake.  Correction, we STILL have chocolate cake.  And we ate out at Josh's pick for lunch - Koi.   That's about it for how 36 went down.

Oh wait, there was this that was also heard on the way to kayak and had us all chuckling...

Josh:  I am 36 now. I am officially closer to 40 than 30.
Me:  And how do you feel about that?
Josh:  Oh, it doesn't really bother me.
Noah, backseat: It bothers me!
Me:  Ha! Why is that?
Noah:  It means he's turning into an old man!

Happy "bothersome" Birthday, Josh!  We love you anyway.
