Lost River Cave

This past weekend, Josh took Friday off work and we headed out for an overnight trip to the really nearby town of Bowling Green, KY.  For the kids, the destination was, of course, the hotel.  But really, we had it in mind to check out two and a half places.  Our first stop was a boat tour of Lost River Cave, or as Noah pronounces it - Woss Wivver Cave.

It was a gorgeous day for wandering around.  Had we planned better, we might have hiked a little, too.

Waiting for our boat tour to begin.  I asked  a lady with a serious looking camera to snap this shot of the four of us assuming she could work my camera with ease.  So sad it turned out blurry, but it was still a lucky chance I picked her because we talked for another 10 or more minutes about something we both had in common - adoption.  It was a really encouraging conversation and made my day to meet someone else with a heart for (and lots of experience with) older child adoption and fostering.

You can't tell so great, but the leaves were falling all around us here like confetti.  It was beautiful.  The guy with the Dr. Pepper was our tour guide.  Funny guy.

Inside a more open part of the cave.

There were some more narrow passageways during the tour.

VERY narrow. So cool though.

Lost River Cave was a nice little stop on our way.  True fact - at this point (and before, actually) the kids were asking and asking, "When we get to da hoe-tayo?"  (hotel)

So I can't help but include those so-called highlights as well...

Firstly (and grudgingly), the iPad playing once we found a comfy spot in the room.

Secondly, the sleeping arrangements.  Anna chose me for her bed buddy. ;)

Thirdly (and most anticipatedly), the pool!  (Yes, I managed to still forget to pack the kids' "baby soups", as Anna calls them, even though she reminded me a jillion times that morning to do so.  We had to run back out to a nearby Kohl's and thank our lucky stars they still had some summer wear on clearance racks to fix my packing oversight. Noah was so relieved we found something to use for "swimming shoots.")

Before a late lunch at Moe's, we spent an hour playing a little place Hopskotch PlayPlace.  We had the whole area to ourselves, so the kids ran off some energy and I caught up on FB. :)

The next stop the next day, Jackson's Orchard! (pictures and post to follow)

What fun family memories! And I love that your girl wanted to sleep with you and that she's wearing a tutu. ;)
