String Fling

The Schermerhorn Symphony held another performance for their Young People's Concert series this week highlighting the string family appropriately entitled String Fling.  Anna was not interested in skipping school to come with us so Noah and I went it alone ...

and lucked out to get to meet up and ride down to Nashville with my friend Amy and her kiddos this time.  It was a good thing because it was nasty wet outside with impending snow and ice on the way. I don't like navigating to and in Nashville on a sunny day, let alone a messy one. We gave ourselves plenty of time to get there and arrived in such good time that we were seated in the very first box in the East Loge.  And in so doing, were sitting ducks for when News Channel 5 came through wanting to interview performers and patrons before the show.

Patrons just like this handsome fella who chatted it up like a rock star.  He told them about lessons he and I had done this week to prepare for the show, about what sorts of instruments we have at home, which instrument he was most excited to see (the harp), and what sort of music he likes to play on his instruments ... Twinkle, Twinkle (which he hummed for them) and The Star Wars Song.  Ha!

True story, he didn't realize this interview was for TV until I explained it on the way home.  Hazard of being a kid who always has parents taking pics and videos just for the memories - all looks the same to him on that side of the camera, I guess.  Ha!

As the speaker's momma, I was interviewed, too.  Eek!  As luck would have it, this interview never aired on the news (last night at least) because the snow we had coming in monopolized the reporting, as it should.

I liked the Swan Lake visit from last month better, but this still got an A from me.  They had a group of kiddos come out on stage as well to play from a Suzuki Medley, which was neat for Noah to see.

Isn't the building gorgeous?

Brody and Noah gave it a grinning thumbs up.

Tally that up under another great trip to Nashville!

Update to Post:  Noah did finally make the news in a special school themed report.  See here! http://www.jrn.com/newschannel5/news/school-patrol/School-Patrol-Students-Learn-Suzuki-Violin-Method-296828321.html
