Sweet and Sting

We have things to show for all our strawberry picking on Monday.  Sweet, sweet homemade freezer jam that Noah and I tackled together.  It was fun to share this project with him this year while Anna was at school.  Last year, I did it with Anna and Memaw while Noah was at school.  Full circle freezer jam memories now!

We are headed back to the patch as soon as the rain clears up so we can make bookoo more jam to last Josh and the kids all year.  BUT, we will steer clear of the creek and trees where Noah played after picking on Monday.  He unwittingly frolicked in some poison ivy while there.  : /

You can see two of the marks on his cheek in the first picture ever so faintly.  That was Tuesday.  The spots worsened all day and spread wherever he was scratching ... neck, behind his ears, under his arms, near his wrists, etc.  This shot is from this morning after we visited the pediatrician.  Ouch!  They offered him a shot of prednisone to boost the pain relief and he gladly took it.  He passed, however, on the suggested loction ... in the bootie.  Ha!  He took it like a man on his thigh. :}  We also got a blast-from-the-past prescription for a high powered topical corticosteroid that we used to use on him all the time as a toddler when his excema would flare up so bad.  Welcome back, triamcinolone acetonide.  Feels like home for our sensitive-skinned boy.  Ha!
