High Hopes for 2014's Garden

Josh and the kids planted our garden without me last weekend.  After seeing how ambitious they were, it's better I missed out on all that labor.  Ha!  Usually, I am the one who maintains the garden once it's planted, but so far Anna has taken the watering very seriously and has attended to that chore every day all by herself.

Here's some shots of the ground where all our high hopes have been planted for this year, not counting the pumpkins which will come later in the summer.
Anna planted six pretty petunias.

Josh planted the cucumbers all along the fence this year so they grow up the fence instead of up and over my tomato plants as they have been wont to do the last few years. :S  We are also trying a new crop this summer that has become a favorite veggie of mine - snap peas! :D

We trimmed the tomato plant count down to just three this year so we don't have so much extra that we can't use.  We settled on the husky cherry red variety that we liked so much of the two types we tried last year.

And next to Josh's shed were planted corn and watermelon.  We have not had good luck with these two before, but we are thinking wishfully.  Like I said, High hopes!

Wish us luck!
