Fourth!

We haven't even unpacked our suitcases yet, but we squeezed in small-scale Fourth of July festivities just down the road last night with dear friends we were overdue for time with, Karla and Jason and kiddos.

Anna donned everything patriotic she could find and/or make (see sparkler crown) and Noah at least put on a flag t-shirt. :}

There was live music, jumpy inflatables, free hot dogs, chips, and drinks, and a shaved ice food truck that was worth every last overpriced dollar.  Like, not even joking. My root beer float with whipped cream was so smooth and delicious.  I would buy that goodness all over again and splurge on the ice-cream scoop inside that I missed out on this time. :}  Josh and the kids opted for a red/white/and blue Liberty Ball shaved ice special.

Weather was swarming all around our area, so it ended up being quite timely that Karla's neighborhood started the fireworks a half hour early.  We ended up watching the show with a light drizzle coming down.  It was really refreshing actually and a fun "first." I am still much of a novice taking pics on my phone, but I managed to realize turning OFF the flash would allow me to catch at least a few fireworks in the show.

As the kids danced around with sparklers of their own, the show wrapped up around when we saw a smidge of lightning far in the distance.  So we headed back to Karla's house and ended up talking and gabbing and catching up til way later than we meant to stay. Anna was a zombie begging for bed by 11 so we finally headed home and crasheddddddddd.  Good Fourth!
