Bloom and Harvest

The first of Anna's sunflowers bloomed the day we left town.

Just gorgeous!

After a week out of town and a handful of hard rains here at home, we returned to find several sunflowers toppled completely.  Thankfully, most were still standing and several more had bloomed,

With several more getting ready to follow suit.

Somehow, this is just as pretty to me as an actual full bloom!

Noah has a bloom (so-to-speak) of his own, too!  His venus fly trap finally formed and opened in June and is ready for customers. :}  We fed it its first meat -  a fruit fly we killed.  After that, it's on its own.

Noah's pitcher plants have come in nicely as well.  There are two of those, also growing in the same pot as the fly trap.

And in the garden, we came home to broccoli blooms!

I don't know how they grew given how badly eaten all their leaves are by some ridiculous caterpillar type mini worm we couldn't get rid of.  I doubt any more will bloom.  So I harvested these two and called it a summer.  Ha!

Noah says they are delicious, so we will also call that a win!  We also gathered our first tomato.  She's a beauty!
