The kids thoroughly enjoyed sharing a sweet week with their grandparents. This visit was different in that Josh had to work every single day so that left a lot of time for the kids to monopolize Memaw and Papa John. ;)
Some days they went shopping or did kitchen projects or greenhouse upgrades and such...
Other days they walked to the park or did a piano lesson with Memaw and even squeezed in a little morning writing work with her help. Papa got Noah a pocket hand chainsaw and showed him how to use it. Noah roped Papa into watching Lord of the Rings with him a couple nights, too. I didn't think to snap pics of those things, but I did snap pics of a few outings we enjoyed since the weather was so nice. We hit up Bledsoe Creek State Park one morning, wandering on a trail, playing in the creek, enjoying the playground (except for Lasa's tantrums at this point) and then resting at the wildlife viewing area...
We enjoyed several different meals out including a dinner for Josh's birthday, though I never got to take them to Chef's Market which I had been meaning to do and then didn't expect them to be closed on Sunday. Doh! Next time!
One night John and Carol kept the kids and Josh and I went to a movie. On the weekend, Josh loaded us all up (super tight and cozy in our little Highlander, but it did the job!) to enjoy the gorgeous day's lower 80's temps and air at Edwin Warner Nature Center. It was so active there that day. We really enjoyed the time there.
Anna says her favorite part of the week was getting to shop with Memaw at Belk. Noah says his favorite part of the week was running errands with Papa. Josh's favorite part of the week was chatting with his parents in the mornings before work. My favorite part was taking them to Bledsoe and Edwin Warner and just chillaxing and chatting on the back porch. Great week! So thankful for the gift of their company and for their endurance in being willing to drive all this way to TN and back!

Summers with grandparents make for the very best memories.
I bet so! It's interesting because I never had relationships with my own grandparents outside of awkward and very spaced out visits that were all very adult-centered and us kids were just ... there. And I only ever had my dad's mom and my mom's dad in those roles anyway. So it's neat to see the relationship as it happens in Josh's family. Thankful for it! It's special and very sweet.
What a fun visit! So glad they are willing and able to come visit too :)
