Timber!

Our over-indulged-by-years-of-not-being-pruned bradford pear tree

that finally succumbed to a gusty storm last month

met its inevitable end this week when we finally tackled the cutting of its limbs waaaaaaaaay, way back.

See here its virtually limbless shame. :( Sad day.

It was quite an undertaking for one man

and a tree that tall,

but Josh kept at it

til the last branch came down.
(that's it on the right all blurry as it fell)

The smile of success.  Also the smile of thankfulness for only sustaining a few minor injuries in the process. Not bad for an amatuer tree trimmer!

The final pruned product in morning's light.

We are sorely missing the bountiful shade and greenery it provided.  And we're hoping it will sprout new shoots and foliage quickly.
Grow, sweet tree, grow!

Josh is maniac. That was not an easy job…and How many bug bites did he get? Any ticks? Spider bites? I had a tree guy come come in the ER with a nasty spider bite after being bit cutting down trees … that was basically eating his skin black. Looked horrendous. I assume Josh didn't acquire any such afflictions? I am such a worrier. Geez.

I am pretty surprised there were no bites then! I will ask him to check though. We didn't even think of it. Though I did find a tick in my hair two weeks ago after walking around under that tree (pre-trimmed). Eek!

I'm impressed - though shouldn't be, it comes as no surprise - with how handy your man is. It seems as though there's no task he's unwilling to take on. What a blessing!

And ticks in your hair?!? Eeek for sure!
