Weather, Haircut, and Mulching - Oh My!

Yesterday was Anna's first day of summer.  

I believe she got the short end of the stick weather-wise. : /

Or did she? :}  You decide.

At any rate, we took care of some errands that needed to get done before the girls come today.  Chiefly, we cut Anna's hair with a capital C!  What had gotten to this mess..

... got severely trimmed up into this masterpiece.

She loves it!  I love that it also is super cute in barrettes still too.

Josh worked like a machine this weekend to take care of some other necessary business before the girls arrive.  Framing and ground cloth covering and mulching the play area.  It was a mud pit when the girls came for a visit this week and 8 muddy children's feet was a MESS on the porch.  I couldn't have that this week ... and I shiver to think of any of them getting by me and into the house with muddy feet.  So, back to the play area.  What started like this a month ago...

...got finished up so well this weekend.  Josh worked in the blazing sun and in the falling rain.  He left town Monday and knew it had to get done once and for all.  It looks so great!

He even managed to spread the mulch in such a way that you can't even tell there are {four} different kinds in there.  Ha!  Bring on the littles; we are ready for outdoor play!
