Power Wheels: A History

When Noah was 22 months old, we got him his first ever Power Wheels ride-on and it was the start of yearssssss of Power Wheels fun in our family on this and subsequent rides.  Check out the preciousness!!

This Lil Quad stayed in the family to get a run with our second baby, too.  More preciousness!

Before she was big enough to ride that, though, came Noah's "bee caw" (big car) for Christmas when he was a little over two and half and Anna was a newborn.  Oh, the hours he spent driving in circles around our cul-de-sac.  Went through two sets of tires on that bad boy.  Money  (and free replacement tires) well spent! I remember with a grin how we would wait and wait for Anna's naps in those days; we'd put her down and high tail it outside so he could ride and ride and ride.

When the Big Car finally bit the dust, we returned to a four-wheeler format with a killer find on a discounted and discontinued T-Rex model Power Wheels.  With the pull of a lever, it would open its mouth and roar.  High excitement!  The riding continued, and this time Anna was big enough to ride it in the same season as Noah.

And then, a bonus Power Wheels came our way in the form a Jeep from cousins Holly and Hannah who had outgrown it.  Now BOTH my babies had a ride of their own at the same time.

So, as you can see.  We've had a long history/love affair with Power Wheels fun in this family. The four wheeler rode until it could ride no more and by then our Power Wheels-sized kiddos were no longer Power Wheels sizes.  The purple car got ridden less and less until we finally passed it to a little friend, Ben, whose parents gave it a serious face lift by painting it red.  Total upgrade!  That family still has this to this day. Power Wheels for lifffffffffffe!

Soooo, all that to say ... as Lasa has neared her second birthday next month, we have been looking forward to getting her her first Power Wheels.  It's go time!  What fun to do the Power Wheels season again!  It came in the mail this week and, you know me, we couldn't wait to have her try it out.  Early birthday present for the win!!  Well, except for how she touched the button for one second and ran in the other direction when it started to move.  The noise was a bit off-putting for her, bless it.  I forced her, yes, FORCED HER, to sit on it while I pushed the button and guided her down the hallway through all her crying out and resisting.  {You will have fun whether you like it or not, child!} It was hilarious!  She got off as soon as I was not there to require her to stay put.  Then we took it outside so the noise would not be so overwhelming to her.  We plopped her back on it and guided her on another little {required} spin.  That did the trick.  She was willing to try it out herself after that and after a couple quick bursts of stops and starts, she was literally squealing with delight as she powered along at 2 mph "chasing" her brother and sister on their bikes.  She now calls this bad boy her 'bike' and wants to ride it as often as someone will come supervise her in doing so.

We love you, Power Wheels.  Welcome back to the family!
(and what a fun coincidence that it happens at 22 months old as it did with our very first one way back when with Noah)

That picture of Noah in the jeep with baby Anna and his little front teeth are out over his bottom lip is how I always picture him when I think of him.

So stinking adorable.

Awwwwwwwwe! It is a good snapshot in time view of him! The whole photo reel also depicted that season so perfectly ... hands on Anna's neck and head. Always touching her and messing with her. He loved babies even then. ;)
