Space and Rocket Center

We finally, finally made it around to the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville this past Friday, Josh's last Friday off this summer.  This has been on our to-do list since we finished our flight/space unit in May for school.  So this was technically our last official day of school waiting to get done once and for all. HA!  We have been to the SRC once before, but this visit packed so much more of a punch following our studies this year and also because it's all festive this summer in honor of the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing later this month.  Perfect timing!  We had a great day! Also nice, we got in free thanks to our already being members of our local science museum.  Got to skip the super long line to get in as well! Sweeeeeet.

So neat to see Von Braun featured several times so promintently.  He is a really interesting part of the story for us, starting with his involvement with Germany in WWII.

Hypership simulator/ride.   Lasa couldn't be coerced into riding once she saw how it jerked and moved from the outside, so it was just the big kids and me for this part.

Moon Shot ride.  Noah was a nervous wreck but he did it.  He did not do the spinny G force ride just before this though. Ha!  Anna did, of course.

And in the true spirit of this summer, we made it back out to our car just before another dark and stormy downpour!
