Florida Recap: Beach!

Our first morning at Memaw and Papa John's we had a rescheduling of our visit with Tania and Justin.  This left our schedule suddenly open, so we seized the day and bolted for the beach ... well, enjoyed a lazy morning and THEN bolted for the beach.  This worked out to be a good use of time anyway because Memaw needed to hit up an Urgent Care Clinic about a suspected infection in her finger.  Papa John stuck with her for that trip and we made plans to meet up with them for dinner.  I heard talk about an oyster bar and other such nonsense. :}

The weather was iffy and it was sprinkling by the time we rolled up to Anna Maria Island, but that mattered not to us.  We knew any beach hitting we did was all bonus after our GA beach run this summer.  Rainy beach?  Fine with us! Still wet.  Still beach. Luckily, the rain kept blowing right on away and we had all these fun moments to watch our babies play.

We left the buckets in the car so she used a croc to store her many beachcombing treasures.

The waves were pretty strong, so we wouldn't let the kids go much deeper than this.  Rip tides, ya know.  :/

Toes in the sand!

This one could not sit still - she flitted, she ran, she squealed, she crouched, she danced, she rolled, she splashed, she laughed, she dug, she studied.  This one digs the outdoors, so the beach is its own kinda heaven to her.

More toes!

It was pretty funny how Noah approached the day.  On the way there, he was declaring he wasn't going to take his shoes off since I hadn't packed any water shoes.  (He has always been funny about being in bare feet.  Just like his daddy.) And then, since we also didn't pack floats, he said he would not get in the water.  (He has always been a more anxious little spirit about things like this.) I assured him he would feel differently once we got there. And he, of course, did. Bless his cautious, worrisome little heart.

Good day!

Then it was on to Anna Maria Island Oyster Bar with John and Carol where my children kept reading these signs and napkins until I could take it no longer and asked them to stop. :}  There's only so many times you can hear your precious littles say 'drunks' and 'loose women' before you want to cry.

Admiring another view before hopping in the car.

 More impressive sky on the way back that night.

Next up - Legoland!!!
