School Drama

In my life, I have never endured what our school system is going through right now, though I hear it is not all that uncommon.   At the last minute before schools were supposed to open on Monday (not counting how Noah's school had already been in session for a FULL week),  all of Sumner County Schools were closed in a standoff between the Board of Education and the County Commissioners over the budget.  The argument, speculation, and energy that has gone into this over the past week is just about all I can take.  An emergency meeting happened last night complete with a rally and all the news channels and even the fire marshall, but in the end the politicking accomplished almost nothing and now it seems it will likely be weeks before kids are back in school.  What I fear most is that that is an optimistic time frame to guess.  :(  So, so dramatic.  And maddening.  And sickening.

Poor Noah quietly said today in the car, "It's taking so long to go back to school."

Josh just looks at me and with a twinkle in his eye says, "It's amazing the lengths God is going through to get you to home school now instead of later."

Please, Lord.  Get the boneheads to open the schools in a timely manner that is fiscally fair to students and residents and leaders alike.

Ha! I thought the same thing as Josh. Though in all seriousness, it is INSANE that your school district is going through this. Absolutely insane!
