Nickelodeon and Potty Books

Nickelodeon - Didn't that word originally mean the movies? I think it did. I could be wrong. I do like that word either way. And I just finished watching another movie. Here are the movies I have seen recently either at the theater or On Demand.

Appaloosa - good, but slow
He's Just Not That Into You - pretty apt insights into the way of it with guys/girls
The Dutchess - not as good as I thought it would be....dragged out
The Secret Life of Bees - I liked it better than the book.

I love movies. I love the little bit of escape they provide. It's kind of like a grown-up version of a little kid saying, "Tell me a story."

Speaking of stories, I got a new book for Noah and it is my (our) new favorite adoption book. It is called I Wished for You (an adoption story) by Marianne R. Richmond. I also got Noah a few more potty-themed books to infuse him with a little more interest in the subject matter. Take a look at our potty-book library so far:

It's Potty Time by Smart Kids Publishing
The Potty Book for boys by Alyssa Satin Capucilli
(new) The Potty Train by David Hochman
Potty Time With Elmo by publications international, ltd.
(new)Sesame Beginning Potty Time! by Parker K. Sawyer
(new) Caillou Potty Time by Jocelyn Sanschagrin
(new) A Potty for Me! by Karen Katz

Josh says no more potty books. He may be right. Add them to the two potty videos we have and the potty watch that inspired him for all of 45 minutes and the potty chart and the candy he gets for going in the potty and I think we are still coming up nil.
Whatever. He will care when he cares. And I will, too. :)

I agree about the movies. I love them!
You have a lot of potty books there so it's good that Josh is cutting you off from buying more :-) You know what worked for us...going straight to big boy pants. After a few accidents it sealed the deal. It's something about actually feeling wet that bugs some kids. If you're not ready for that then rest assured that you're doing a good job at intellectually preparing him.

I love how you said that...it's like adults saying "tell me story." Seriously...it is.
And don't push that boy on the potty...he'll figure it out when you least expect it, like Brooklyn...up out of bed one day and she suddenly needs to use the big person potty.

I just saw "He's just not that into you" last night and HATED it! Just didn't seem like it was for marriage or go about it the right way. Well, maybe my expectations were just a little too high or different than what Hollywood would produce. A few good insights though, but that was it. Anyway...just my two cents! :) I did see Fireproof last weekend and really loved it! It's not Robert DeNiro or even close in the acting category, but a really good message. Someone in my family is basically in the same situation played out in the movies, so really good to see and give a fresh amount of hope to!

He's Just Not That Into You is one we saw on our date. It made me laugh. :) We also saw The International and I think it was what I expected... a nice action movie. I just saw The Secret Life of Bees too... wow, what a dad!
