Green Door Gourmet

We took in the first of two field trips this week yesterday on the other side of Nashville.  Our destination was an organic farm named Green Door Gourmet.

It was a sweet little trip on a lovely, breezy day with one of our homeschool groups. We picked strawberries and kale and made smoothies there on site.  The biggest takeaway for the kids when all was said and done was that organic strawberries are mostly eaten up in the field (the kiddos struggled to find big red berries without being half-eaten already) ... and we have decided THAT is the reason organic stuff is more expensive - to cover the cost of those losses.  HA!

Bunnies and chickens at the end of the day were a nice touch!  Thanks for being such friendly hosts, Green Door!

Interesting thought on the rational as to why organic is so expensive. Seems a reasonable cause...
