Sumner Harvest Festival

Another day, another field trip!  Today was with our homeschool group for Historic Rock Castle's Sumner Harvest Festival.  The weather had finally turned back to chilly; it was glorious out.  There were tents set up all over with different living history demonstrations to visit at your own pace. There was such variety and so many hands-on exhibits. It was a really great outing. One of our faves so far!

Toddler's released from strollers during magician.  I am not joking when I tell you that Lasa is a real crowdpleaser.  At one point in the day when I let her roam free, I was called to intervene.  Noah said, "Mommmm, Lasa has drawn a crowd of her own."  And he wasn't kidding.  You would have thought a booth was beyond all the heads and smiling faces.  Nope, just an adorable toddler with a pink bow in her curly hair flashing million-dollar smiles.

Pottery

Anna was fascinated with the process.  I have already contacted a local wheel pottery place for her. ;)

Other things we saw included lace making, milk maid and butter churning, basket making, paper filigree, chicken feeding, cipher coding, war medic, shoe maker, doll maker, militia drills, and of course the self-guided tour through Rock Castle (which we technically skipped because we had a private tour of that back in the spring.)
