Local Love: Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday, Josh had the day off so we were excited to have him go with us to our nearest pumpkin patch destination - Bottom View Farm.  It was (hopefully) our last hot day of this year.  But while warm,  we went early to enjoy the cool morning breezes to set it off.  We met up with good friends and enjoyed a really nice time!

Low key, easy wandering, pumpkin picking, doubling up on whatever the kids were keen on (hay maze, jumping pillow, corrugated slides, feeding goats), enjoying lunch at the farm's cafe, and we even got to pick apples, which I was afraid we had missed the window for.  We have never actually picked apples right off trees before, so that was a fun perk.

Having been to Bottom View many a time, this trip was a touch sweeter and newer for getting to let Lasa discover it for the first time.  Last year, she was a teeny thing in a carrier.

I daresay Josh had as much fun as Lasa did. :)

Hayridin' to the patch to do the Fall Fest honors!

Baby's first pumpkin pick ... that I may or may not have picked out for her to "pick".

She was all about it.

Candid photo fun...

I don't know why but I love this shot.  Love.

Getting to sample some of the ripest apples the farmer rounded up.  He tells us the best ones are on the ground.

On our way out, we stopped in the orchard to pick a few of our own.  The smell of the rotting apples on the ground in the heat was really something!  Not noxious, but definitely distinct and strong and sweet mixed with rot. :}  Very fall!

One last swing while we waited for Josh to find his way out of the little quilting shop on site.  The kind man in there gave us some free scraps and batting leftovers for Anna to work with.

Apples and pumpkins to show for our day.  Good day!  Lasa was asleep before we even pulled off the farm's property!

Back at home, I adored our trio of pumpkins on the porch.

Bring on the harvest season!
