After years of winters buying the pre-made elderberry syrup every month for cold/flu season immune-boosting benefits, this year a friend happened to pass me a link to a recipe she uses. I thought, what the heck, and went ahead and gave it a go. And it was so stinking simple to make, I kinda feel like an idiot for overpaying all this time. Life!
Anyway, Kimmie makes her own laundry detergent, home schools her own kids, plays around with essential oils every now and then, makes her own moisturizing spray for Lasa's hair, grows her own tomatoes, makes our yearly supply of strawberry jam, and now makes her own elderberry syrup. Next thing you know, I will be keeping beehives in my own yard for the raw honey ...
Ps - it's delicious! Just as good, if not better, than the pre-made stuff. C'mon elderberries, do your healthy forcefield thing well around my babies this season!

You sound like my friend Wanda here in Boone.
And that crazy thing does have her own bee hives and I buy honey from her.
I'm gonna give the elderberry syrup a go.
Amy will not have the flu this year.
I seriously prayed for a quick death this past winter.
Ha!! I might as well go ahead and put bee keeping on my bucket list! I can see it! Here is the recipe I used ... adding cinnamon like my friend Gloria does. Other versions add cloves as well. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/13862711337145187/
I knew you could do it! I need to order elderberries to make ours... and SOON. Thanks for the reminder!
