Podunk on Parade

We went to the Christmas parade in our little town yesterday.  To say it was ... uh, country...would be an understatement.  But it certainly was relaxed and friendly and fun, so I guess we can't complain.  I'll take simple and light-hearted over stuffy and crowded any day.

Not even the rain could rain on our parade!

Marching band, check!

Frosty and The Grinch, check and check!

Talented carolers, check!

Then things started to get confusing...

Is this a parade or a tractor pull?

Apparently, all you need is a Santa hat and you are good as gold in the Gallatin parade.

Seriously, a float from a local bail bond shop? Really?

Throw some lights on a rusty pick-up and you got yourself a holiday, I guess.

Warmest holiday wishes from ... scary Star Wars creatures?

Is it just me or is this starting to resemble an intergalactic KKK rally?  Just sayin' ...

Noah's hiding because it only gets worse ...

... Clowns.

One hobo did manage to get him to loosen up.  Who can resist a hearty high five?

There were lots of fliers handed out as well.  It only got on my nerves when I spotted the spelling errors.

Nevermind all that, we scored a lot of candy from adoring cheerleaders.

Anna mastered her princess wave in preparation for her first real Disney trip in a couple weeks.

We saw the strangest bus we'll probably ever see.

And we spotted Santa by parade's end ...

so all was well in the world again.

Hilarious! Love that last picture of Noah waving to Santa. I've loved reading the posts about him and Santa this year. Your little guy sure is sweet.

We saw a little of the parade after visiting Santa at Walgreens. You were braver than I was- it was too yucky out for me! I could not stop laughing at all of the Star Wars characters!!

I know, right? What is Christmas about robots and guns?!

It will amuse you, then, to know we just bought Noah a light sabre for his stocking.
