What is it about "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" that makes it such a fun song to listen to? I can't help but enjoy it. I think it's that man's voice.
I finished watching The Nativity Story last night. I'm so glad I finally got around to seeing it. It was really worth a view and already I think it has added real substance and perspective to how I view the holiday season, to how I view the story that we all know by heart. It was really helpful to see it in action, with historical build up, with contextual details. And for some reason, I really dug the parts involving the wise men. That was really interesting to see and understand better about their role, profession, and interests in the story.
Noah has "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" stuck in his head, or is it his heart? I don't know. But he even sings it to himself while he is in his own little world during his breathing treatments. It's pretty cute to observe.
Anna said Jesus for the first time this week. All on her own, too. She was holding the baby Jesus from her Little People Nativity set and kept saying to herself, "Baby. Jessus. Baby. Jessus." There's something about hearing His name from the lips of my precious girl that makes me catch my breath. Like Mary a bit, I store it up in my heart.
After hearing "Santa Baby" on one of my Christmas CD's, Noah asked, "Mommy, why dat wady call Santa a baby?"
After hearing a verse from Jesus' birth story that mentions it taking place in the "city of David," Noah got all excited at the connection he made to the character he played in his Thanksgiving program. "David?! Wike I David!!" It was another great teachable moment to show him the connection of Jesus to the David that he thought was just a boy with a sling.

no comment other than this post really made me smile.....nothing more precious than seeing our children discover the Lord and speak His name
I agree with Amy! Brooklyn is understanding a little more about God in general...being the Creator. For example..."God and Jesus will decide if my mommy has a boy or a girl in her belly!" Small concept, I know, but it's the beginning...I love it! 4 is my favorite age so far...it's they can't get enough learning in their little minds...I totally get the "kids are like sponges" bit...
Yeah - Noah is a bit confused on the God, Jesus, Creation equation. He wants to know which one made the sun and which one made the moon.
I agree with Amy... and Emily.
And I think I need to see the Nativity Story now.
