Josh's Dream Realized

First, there was this poor little Softub hot tub we scored used off GTP for something like $150 a few years ago.  When it didn't work after purchase, the seller was kind enough to return our money but didn't want the thing back and told us to dispose of however we wished.  At that point, with nothing to lose, Josh was willing to tinker with it to see if it could be salvaged.  Some parts purchases later, he had it up and running.  He and the kids have enjoyed it immensely - some days hot, other days cold like a mini-pool.  This year, the heating parts have been very moody - working one week and not the next.  Last month, it died once and for all.  Since then, Josh wanders around the house after the kids go to bed, a lost puppy without his late night dip.  He's been pitiful.

It was quickly clear how much a part of our lives that little hot tub had become. So, I offered up my blessing on the idea of getting a decent one now for my people instead of waiting til we had that kind of money ... after retirement - ha!  And one that I would actually get in; you may or may not remember Anna's little bout of hot tub folliculitis?  Ick.  I never once got in that thing as a result of that and all the other images I found upon googling bacteria in used hot tubs, no matter how zapped and psychotically clean Josh got it.  We decided, after weighing the pros and cons, and considering how well-used the softub was for these recent years, that it was worth making payments to afford one now that we all would enjoy.  In the end, Josh figured a way we could just make payments to ourselves instead.  I still consider it to be foolish spending, but sometimes you just gotta indulge.  We feel like after this year we have come through, we would do just that and enjoy it heartily.   So we visited two stores last weekend, the second of which was our winner.  Family Leisure gave us a great deal (apparently summer is the best season to buy one - being off season for hot tubs) and we bought one on the spot, to be delivered within the week.

Josh got busy moving out the old tub and his broken grill and building a level pad for our new baby.

And then today, we sort of stalked the front windows waiting for our special delivery.  It came right on time!  Behold!

The electrician comes today or tomorrow morning, depending on how quickly he finishes his other jobs.  Excited!  Josh is forming out a nice pebbled path from the patio to the spa and we are kind of excited about scaping the space around it and fashioning a little more patio on the other side of this at some point as well.  Stay tuned!
