My Mother's Day Mix

Oh, Mother's Day.  What a funky mix you are for me.  You just aren't my cup of tea.  On the bright side, you are surprise sweets from my babies and hubby. Simple goodies, just my style.

Couldn't sleep from 4:30 onnnnnnn that day, so I went for a morning walk with the first kid up at 6:30.  Cuteness ensued when my bleary-eyed baby went for the jump rope option.

After our walk, I enjoyed cinnamon rolls delivered to me on the back porch since I was not in bed for "breakfast in bed" like my people had originally planned on.  The air was so sweet and cool out.

While letting the morning pass nice and slow, we took a few moments to text some specific mommas in our lives for whom Mother's Day might or might not sting a little.  We erred on the side of reaching out to them either way.  Noah texted Tania, Josh and I texted Angelique.

Once Lasa got up, we went for another walk/skate/push bike ride on the greenway.

I got in over 10,000 steps on my first day of my new Fitbit before 10:30!  A Fitbit is just what my Type A brain needed.

Back at home, we lingered in the yard, around the house, taking the day slow.  So slow we stayed home from church even.  Josh knocked out a couple honey-do things.  More fun got put up in the backyard.  Can you spot it?

The day was peppered with the kindest Mother's Day greetings from dear friends.  How lucky am I for these sorts of friends?

They brought such encouragement to my heart on a day when I worried my own mother issues would make me numb reading everyone else's glowing praises of their wonderful mommas on FB.  Lucky for me, I have an wonderful mother-in-law, so I gushed about her in a Mother's Day text of my own.

I wrapped up the day chatting with my sister on the phone, which just felt right.  And that concludes my mother's day mix.  All-in-all, simple goodness.  Glad for it!
