December's Third Weekend

It reallllly helps that my trusty {paper} calendar sits right in front of the computer, or I wouldn't even be able to remember what was in our weekend!  True story.  Kimmie's brain cannot keep much info on tap for long.  It's why I blog.  That should be my new subtitle - Scrapbook Brown:  Our Memories on Tap. Ha!

Anyway, December's third weekend technically starts on Thursday ... when Josh put the Santa suit back on for the annual treat his county provides for the self-contained special education classes and, this year, even a home-bound kiddo, bless him and his family!  Try not to rib Josh too hard about his beard not being AT ALL white enough.  I have given him a hard enough time over that as it is.  ;)  Bless Josh for his kind and willing heart to fill this role every year. ❤️

December's third weekend saw the kiddos enjoying their annual Christmas party at their co-op on Thursday. Party + Pjs + Presents = Perfect!

December's third weekend had the kids and me scooting over to a matinee showing of Star Warsssss on Friday and it was such a good time.  We sing homeschool praises when we get to do the fun stuff while everyone else is in a classroom!  I think next December, I am gonna schedule allllll our Fridays off.  What a fun tradition this will be!

December's third weekend, Anna got in the spirit with some holiday crafts ... wrapping up her Lego Nativity that got rave reviews on FB and doing her gingerbread house all by herself.  Noah is saving his for later.

December's third weekend had us keeping some of our fave buddies while their parents (our dear friends, Craig and Cathy) wrapped up some Christmas shopping.  I giggled as I sent them out to brave the crowds and chaos on a Saturday in December.  Not this chick, nuh uh!  I knew what they were in for.  Ha! Check out the kids' game faces while they MarioKarted their brains out.

December's third weekend, Anna and Emma made healthy pumpkin muffins without flour ... using oats and flax seed.  They were ugly but good! Drizzled in chocolate syrup was ever better! ;)

December's third weekend, I fell in love with a new blanket Josh was given by his boss.  It is the softest thing everrrrrrr and whomever is snuggled in it can't help but remark on it every time.  Usually me.

December's third weekend, Lasa woke up Sunday sounding so awful with croup, so I kept her home from church.  We played dollhouse, among other things, which if you know me is a real sacrifice.  I am so not good at playing pretend.  Mostly I organized the house and set up the characters and Lasa was none the wiser.  Ha!

December's third weekend, I loved taking in the Christmas card wall as it slowly fills up. A friend from church displays hers in a tobacco basket and it is SO pretty!  I am gonna try to come up with something by next year for mine.  Hopefully!

December's third weekend, I finished the last of the wrapping I needed to do.  All that's left are Santa items that don't get wrapped.  I also finally tried to snap a pic or two of our tree.  I am not crazy about the out-of-the-way place we put it in the living room. Admiring its pretty glow hasn't been as natural or as enjoyable this year; I am missing getting to look at it more often.  Next year, it's going back in the middle of the room!

December's third weekend, we went to small get-together with our old gang at Craig and Cathy's with Ryan, Kristin, James, and Cindy.  It was fun to laugh around the table with them and hear our crowd of children running and playing and screaming and happy together upstairs.  I am now sorry I didn't make them all endure a group pic now.  The blog misses those faces!!   As well, Josh scooted out for Lasa's visit with Angelique during the night.  They met up at Books-a-Million and this time Angelique was actually there and was super on time - nay, early!  It was a Christmas miracle.  She is due any day now basically, so we don't expect to see her again for awhile; she said likely 6 weeks, we guesstimate it will be much longer.  We shall see though!

December's third weekend reached into Monday this time when we loaded up the car and enjoyed a really slow roll through out neighborhood to see all the lights on the houses.  I don't know what it is about this year, but this year there are LIGHTS and DISPLAYS GALORE. It's sorta awesome and so fun.  Double that with a toddler in the car who feels like queen of the world because she is riding on the front seat center console and not in her backseat car seat. HA!

After the neighborhood joy ride,  Josh was off to see Star Wars himself (thank you Fandango gift card from a coworker!) and Noah and Anna went with him to see it again.  Light sabres were brought out while they waited and watched the clock til it was time to go.

The coworker that gave Josh the Fandango gift card also wrote the kindest note that I just had to share here to brag on Josh.  Proud of him and how he carries himself with everyone.

December's next weekend will be go-time -  Family and Christmas Eve and Santa!  Exciting!

Looks like a great time together with family and friends this last weekend. We have been quite busy ourselves...so much so, that Natalie asked me yesterday evening "so, when is there a day that we WON'T be going somewhere?!" haha! Tomorrow kid. Tomorrow. Come OOOoooon tomorrow!!

  2. Natalie is my soul sister in that regard! Noah, on the other hand, every day, "Are we going anywhere today? Who will be there? What time will we leave?" Home days are his drudgery.
