Taking in our first read-aloud of the school year ... A charming little book, first in a series of 5 by Cynthia Rylant. The Storm, set in a lighthouse (ergo entitled the Lighthouse Family series) ... which reminds us of Tybee ...
now that I have a week of school under my belt...you'll need to clue me in about these "read alouds"
Where in the world is the time in your school day for reading....and how much time are you reading for?
I am not at all surprised at the work of the week...but I AM surprised at how tired we all are! Brooklyn, Natalie and jack are all SLEEPING right now...
We get it in all over the place... filler, when we need a mental break between subjects, later in the day, when we are waiting on someone in the car, etc. It's SO worthwhile.
Got it...and I went out, got a book, brought it home...showed the girls all excited, and Brooklyn's already had it read to her last year..."and it was really boring. Just adventures here and there. eh"

But they think homeschooling is "THE BEST!"

ReplyDeleteNice.
:(
It was Kate DiCamillo The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
ReplyDeleteHa! That was my next question - what was it?!? I have that one, never read though. Check some read aloud pins. So many great list recommendations.
