Taa Daa: Picture Wall

I've been meaning to upgrade our picture wall display for over a year now.  Sorry I don't have a decent "Before" pic to show, but I am sure you can imagine.  Before, it was a bunch of frames that came in a set from Target for like $30.  Pretty cheap quality.  The plan for the upgrade was to find a varied assortment of frames to add interest.  Turns out, I had this much variety in my unused frame stash, so I didn't have to spend a penny.  Wait, I did buy the big middle one, but it was on sale for 50% off and I got to use a coupon for 40% off that, too.  :)

Following a great example (or 20) that I have seen on HGTV, I layed out my plan on the floor.

Then I traced it onto wrapping paper.  And Bonus, this wrapping paper, though cheap and flimsy, had a grid on the back which helped me with spacing and straightening.  Then Josh went through and marked the holes on the paper where the nails were on the back of the frames.

We taped the paper to the wall and double checked with a level.

Josh hammered Ooks into the hole markings.

We gently pulled the paper off and finished hammering the Ooks.

Quick as a flash, we hung our pictures on their respective nails.

Perfect!

And I was thinking while we got this done how far we have come in our marriage.  Our first ventures into picture hanging as newlyweds almost did our marriage in!  This was so much more efficient, exact, and peaceful.  It's amazing what 8+ years of marriage experience and a good bit of HGTV viewing can do.

  1. Oh what a great idea! Looks good! I just made the girls both a dress for zero dollars too! I love it when that happens. Feels so good.

  2. Picture walls are so fun, aren't they? Especially when they have cute photos of cute kiddos hanging on them.

That wrapping paper layout idea is brilliant!!!!
