It started in October with a clean, though crooked, empty fresh start of a 2nd chart.
This week, Noah completed it just in time to mark the end of this year. We are well on our way to a fully nighttime potty trained preschooler! Over the past two months he has managed to stay dry all by himself all night long about 4 times a week - sometimes more, sometimes less. Good and steady progress, still.
Noah cashes in his hard work today and gets to pick out a new toy as his reward, as if we don't have enough new toys around here from Christmas. Nevermind that - He has his options whittled down to three - a Jedi helmet, a light saber for Daddy, or a Yoda. Though I try to sway him to choose the second light saber, at last check he was leaning toward the Yoda. The heart wants what it wants.
Starting tomorrow (and don't I love how it perfectly matches with the New Year), he upgrades to a big bad, big boy calendar and stickers. :) Crossing my fingers that the calendars will be the last we need in the nighttime potty training department. My goal is that he's a sure thing by his birthday May 2.
Yay noah!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Noah! Don't be discouraged if this continues longer than you hope. I know quite a few kids (mostly boys and including our oldest) who continued night wetting for years. It is actually really common especially in allergy kids who are deep sleepers. Hope you have success in 2011 though! If it does continue, we found that the buzzer system worked really well for David and several of our family/friends.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have read those nighttime potty statistics many times - just imagine me blocking it out with my fingers in my ears going LaLALALALALA. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder - I know when we get a number of more months into it, Noah and I will take comfort in that fact. That's it's normal and it's ok.
And while my idealistic side is going LALALALALALA, my realistic side already has a buzzer system in hand - got it from my sister just last month.
Still - thinking happy thoughts!
(And I had never heard that part about the allergy relation - I'm off to google more about that for sure. Allergic and deep sleeper - that is definitely my boy.)
